A: I'm sorry. This question makes no sense at all. You need to retain someone to help you write a question. I do not understand how the concept of a work permit interconnects with the concept of adverse possession. You need a work permit to perform certain types of work on real estate, and you may not be able to get that permit if you aren't the title owner. If you have met the requirements for adverse possession for, I believe, 15 years in Virginia, you should retain counsel to file a suit to quiet title, and you can then get the permits you need. If your plan is to squat on someone's property and begin renovations so that you will become the owner in 15 years, that is a really long haul, and the present owner may not thank you when he ejects you from the property, gets an award of damages for your trespass and changes to his property, and then keeps and uses your renovations, since, as fixtures, they remain with the land.
