Q: Do speeding camera tickets in Montgomery, AL affect your drivers license?
I was driving through AL on the road trip from TX back to NY for school. Do speeding camera tickets from Montgomery, AL affect your driver's license points? I've read that it's a municipal action which is corrected when paying a fine to the city of Montgomery. I've also read that tickets MUST be received by an ACTUAL law enforcement officer otherwise it does not affect your insurance or points on your drivers license.
A: If the violation is a speeding charge only, New York does not usually assess points onto your driver’s license for the out-of-state violation (unless committed in particular places in Canada). It won't be likely that your insurnace company will learn of your speeding violation from AL.
