Groveland, FL asked in Landlord - Tenant for Florida

Q: If my home I was renting was condemned by code enforcement what are my rights ? Can i be charged rent/evicted?

I lived in unsafe unhabitable living conditions for 5 months Asking and begging to have repairs made. I had live electrical wires hanging throughout the home and the bathroom was full of mold. I was forced to call code enforcement and they did condemn my place on September 20th. However my landlord is trying to charge me rent for the temporary living and they are not fixing my home. as a matter of fact I received a 5 day eviction letter. I have been harassed, retaliated against for calling code enforcement, I'm sick from mold exposure, one Of my cats passed away from it. And also if I'm living in temporary housing in the same mobile home park and they evict me from the condemned home does that mean I can stay in the temporary home or will I be evicted from there also? I really need some help some advice. I need to find an attorney that will take my case on contingency. I have severe emotional distress it's so bad I rarely leave my home, I have anxiety now, I'm very depressed.

A: If you are "living in temporary housing in the same mobile home park", the eviction from the previous place would seem to be moot (and thus cannot proceed). It is unclear whether you are being asked to also leave the "temporary housing"; if so, they can require to leave there too if you fail to pay rent there or otherwise want you out.

A: Your facts are not very clear. You said your place was condemned yet you moved into a temporary living place. If it is temporary, is there any short term lease? Are you paying rent? You are saying that your landlord is evicting you in retaliation. Whereas it could be a legal ground to fight against the eviction, Landlord must have no other reason, such as you not paying a rent, to evict you.
