Q: Can I sue a place of employment for a manager\general manager saying that I am nothing but wasted space?
A manager\general manager at a certain company came into my office and was talking to a fellow coworker. At first I was not paying much attention and I heard her say "I said it about that dumb ass over there" "nothing but wasted space". I looked around my coworkers monitor and said I'm wasted space and this general manager says sorry dude, but yes your nothing but wasted space. I walk out for a minute and this general manager states to coworker that is nothing but an overpaid waste of space that sitting over there in that chair. There is more to this but just giving the basic for the moment. I thought it didnt bother me or effect me but maybe it has effected me more than I thought. Is there anything that I can do? This particular incident took place few months back. This was not the only incident just the main one that I was able to catch on recording.
A: With the way that it looks, you may end up having a potential claim for constructive termination, given that your manager is creating an environment that is not suitable for working. That being said, you may want to consult a lawyer in your area to discuss further.
