San Francisco, CA asked in Car Accidents for California

Q: Do I need to give a recorded statement to my insurance provider for a recent car accident?

Recently I was involved in a car accident. My insurance won't cover any damages (not part of my insurance) nor was I injured at the scene. My car is probably totaled so as of now I have considered it a loss and am moving past that.

However my insurance is asking me for a recorded statement. As I hit the other vehicle from behind I assume I will retain most of the liability for this. My concern is that the other vehicle stopped very suddenly and acted suspicious when I approached them to make sure everyone was ok. For example the man asked me to call the police for him. He was with a woman I was later told was his wife. I work in low income housing and regularly make emergency personnel calls so I thought I could handle it well. In retrospect I feel their behavior was suspicious.

Edit: Insurance will not cover damages to MY car (not on my insurance) nor do I need injury insurance.

A: you have an obligation to cooperate with your insurance......if not they arguably would have no obligation to defend you.

however, I don't understand why they won't cover it if you rear-ended someone.

something is missing.

you should set up a free consultation with a local PI lawyer
