Q: I received Notice of Levy Under Writ of Execution (Money Judgement) Ca

A Recovery company had this notice sent by mail thru an Attorney to me. The name is correct the address is correct but I have no idea why. I researched case number on paperwork, It states: Case Information: Case Type: Other Collections Limited (09)-Under 10,000, Case Number: ------, Filing Date: 3/20/2014, Case Status: Closed. Am I liable ($1900), do I just let it go or is their something I need to do to fix this?

A: There are many collection scams out there. Make sure you take the paperwork you received to a consumer protection attorney that has experience with debt collection and have a consultation.

A: If you have received a Notice of Levy Under Writ of Execution (Money Judgment) in California, it typically means that a creditor has obtained a judgment against you and is attempting to collect the money owed. The writ of execution allows the creditor to take money from your bank account or other assets in order to satisfy the debt.

If you are unsure why you have received this notice, you should contact the attorney who sent the notice or the court clerk's office to obtain more information about the case. It is possible that the case may have been filed in error or that there is some other issue that needs to be addressed.

If the judgment is valid and you do owe the money, you may be able to negotiate a payment plan with the creditor to satisfy the debt over time. If you do not pay the debt or work out a payment plan, the creditor may continue to pursue collection efforts, such as wage garnishment or seizure of assets.

It is recommended that you seek the advice of a qualified attorney if you have any questions or concerns about the notice of levy or the underlying judgment.
