A: If you don't know the law firm that prepared your father's will, there are several steps you can take to try to locate a copy of the will:

If your father kept important documents at home, such as a safe or filing cabinet, check these areas for a copy of his will.

If your father's will has been filed with the probate court, you may be able to obtain a copy from the court. Contact the probate court in the county where your father resided at the time of his death to see if they have a copy of the will on file.

If your father had a financial advisor that he worked with, they may have a copy of his will. You can try contacting any professionals he worked with or estate planning lawyers in your father's area to see if they have a copy on file.

Your father may have shared information about his will with other family members or close friends. Reach out to them to see if they have any information about the will or know how to obtain a copy.
