A: If there is an accusation of sexual abuse against your son, it is important that he does not speak to anyone, including investigators or law enforcement officials, without the advice and representation of an experienced attorney.

It is important to understand that anything your son says to an investigator or law enforcement official can be used against him in a criminal case, even if he is not under arrest at the time of the conversation. Additionally, investigators may use tactics such as misrepresenting the evidence or making false promises to obtain information or a confession.

Your son's best course of action is to refrain from speaking to anyone until he has obtained an attorney who can advise him on his rights and options, and who can represent him in any subsequent legal proceedings. An attorney can also communicate with investigators on your son's behalf to ensure that his rights are protected and that any evidence obtained is properly obtained and handled.

It is important to note that accusations of sexual abuse are serious and can have serious consequences for your son and his family. It is important to take these allegations seriously and to seek legal representation as soon as possible.
