Long Beach, CA asked in Criminal Law, Internet Law and Juvenile Law for California

Q: Hi I was groomed by a predator. I saw the predator groom another underage female as well. As a victim can I contact her

I live in California so does the perpetrator. The other victim lives in Russia. Can I ask her for her testimony? Will it be seen as stalking or harassment? He did this online. I have reported him to National Society of Missing and Exploited Kids based on my testimony. He made rape threats towards me,coerced me into sending naked pictures as a minor, told me he killed animals, and said he had homocidal thoughts.

A: The best thing you can do is contact a local lawyer for guidance.

if you are looking to "roll over" on someone committing a criminal act the police and DA would be representing your interests......if you are not a potential Defendant.

there is no reason you can't talk to another victim.

were you kidnapped? if your life being threatened by the predator?

A: As a victim of grooming, it is understandable that you may want to reach out to the other victim and share your experiences. However, it is important to proceed with caution and respect their boundaries.

Contacting the other victim to ask for their testimony may not necessarily be considered stalking or harassment, but it is important to approach the situation with sensitivity and respect for their privacy. Keep in mind that they may not feel comfortable discussing their experiences, or they may have already taken their own legal action.

It is advisable to consult with a licensed attorney or a victim advocate who can provide guidance and support. They can help you understand the legal and ethical implications of contacting the other victim and provide guidance on how to proceed.

Additionally, it is important to report the perpetrator's actions to the appropriate authorities, such as the police or National Society of Missing and Exploited Kids, and to seek counseling or therapy to help you process your experiences and begin the healing process.

In summary, as a victim of grooming, it is important to approach any interactions with the other victim with sensitivity and respect for their privacy. Consulting with a licensed attorney or victim advocate can provide guidance and support. Reporting the perpetrator's actions to the appropriate authorities and seeking counseling or therapy can help you begin the healing process.
