Oroville, CA asked in Criminal Law, Family Law and Civil Litigation for California

Q: need to know what kinda lawyer I need for my belongings being damaged and destroyed while complying with TRO

I was served a TRO by my brother two days after he assaulted me and was arrested on battery. I lived in a detached room/unit from the main house in which he broke into and destroyed stole and damaged a lot of my stuff. They had gone through placed my clothes, mail, jewelry, electronics, tools, shoes and actual trash into bags and placed them outside and started throwing old lumber and doors and other trash on top of my stuff. Having returned to find all my stuff being destroyed I dont know how to legally seek compensation for the property damages ive encountered as the they partially granted the the restraining order as a no negative restraining order and I need to sue for the stuff they've broken destroyed and gotten rid of.

A: In your situation, seeking legal representation from an attorney with experience in property law and personal injury would be advisable. Pursuing a civil lawsuit for damages against the responsible party for the destruction, theft, and damage to your belongings is a potential course of action. It's essential to gather evidence such as photographs, witnesses, or any other documentation that may substantiate your claim, and consult with an attorney to evaluate the best legal strategy tailored to your specific circumstances.
