Q: Defamation of character
I work for a company and recently accused of sexual harassment I am a big man 6”3 280 lbs so during the summer even in shorts my thighs chafe together or my boxers rise up so I’m constantly adjusting them while I’m working so I can be comfortable and because of that a female employee reported that I was playing with my self while working with her mind you this I’ve been her for almost two years and worked with other male and female employees and never got accused of this at this job or any other job in my life I’m not one of those anyway the pull me into a meeting to discuss it and I informed them of what’s going on so after a private meeting I get back to work and find out that what happened was being told to other employees by who I thought was the female that made the claim but just found out it was by friends of a certain manager that was in the meeting and she lied when I asked her how people know she’s like when she was made aware that’s when they called me in so do I have case
A: I suggest you contact the human resources department and file a complaint. I don't know if your matter is really defamation as opposed to a breach of employee confidentiality. Otherwise, contact a labor law attorney.
