I work for a hotel chain which is individually owned operating under a well known corporation. ( La Quinta Inn and Suites by Wyndham ) Wyndham offers members the ability to earn points on each stay that can be used for discounted rates/free nights. as a desk agent, I have the OPTION, not mandatory to enroll guests to become a member.
I am 50 yrs old, female, and I just recently became homeless and have had to sleep in my car several times in 100 degree temperatures.
So when a guest declined to become a member, I would use my member number to collect the points. I have not redeemed any of those. On a majority of the points, it was a guest who suggested i use my member number on her account so i could get the credit/points My employers said they might file theft charges on me for doing so. can they do that?
A: Clearly yes. You intentionally took something of value that did not belong to you without the owner's consent. You should hire a criminal defense attorney ASAP.
