Q: Repair company further damaged my travel trailer and they are extremely dishonest about work they've done w/ ins. co.
In March of this year, Alabama had some bad storms and as a result I received a huge amount of property damage due to hail. Both cars, travel trailer, and roof. The people who did the repairs to my travel trailer turned in a quote of $23,000 to AllState. They needed the $ to do the work. Allstate sent the check in both my name and the business owner's name. I STILL don't have my trailer, and when I checked on it, I found there was MORE damage than when the took it to repair (I took pictures of the damage before they picked it up). But almost 7 months later, they have not fixed it, the trailer is an absolute disaster and a toddler could tell the work they claim is nowhere near what they did, they material is cheap and the they left a good foot of glue all down the sides. Because they already got the money, Allstate won't help me even though they got ripped off. Should I file on the damage caused after they picked it up or just hire a lawyer?
A: I suggest you speak directly with a lawyer. Ask him or her to review your paperwork, include any releases and provisions relating to arbitration. Because this is likely a breach of contract case relating only to property damage, most lawyers won't bring interested in representing you. I wish you the best.
