Athens, OH asked in Personal Injury and Car Accidents for Ohio

Q: Can I hire a different lawyer if mine doesn't believe in me

My attorney only received some of my medical records and as I was telling him he didn't have all my records he made it clear he didn't think I was hurt in my accident but I was hurt and I just feel like he hasn't tried to ever get in touch with me or ever call or send me an email in 7 months of waiting for some kind of communication. It's not about the money, it's about my attorney believing in me!

A: You can fire your attorney at any time. The attorney is entitled to some portion of the contingent fee. Consult with other attorneys before firing your attorney.

A: A local attorney could advise best, since your question could involve Ohio rules. Until you're able to consult with a local attorney, clients are generally free to change attorneys and vice-versa. Depending on the amount of work done, some cases could require the outgoing and incoming attorney agreeing to arrangements for attorney fees. Good luck
