A: I'm very sorry to hear you are in this difficult and threatening situation. Here are some options I would recommend considering:

- Contact the prison authorities directly and notify them about the threats and harassment coming from the inmate and their family towards you. The prison should take this seriously.

- Speak to a civil rights attorney about possible harassment, threats, stalking, or witness tampering/intimidation claims against the inmate's family. Cease and desist letters or restraining orders may be options.

- Alert the police and district attorney's office that you are being subject to witness intimidation due to your report/information. Ask for witness protection guidance.

- Record and document all concerning communications and incidents. Keep close track of who says what. This creates evidence.

- Enhance your own personal safety - home security, unique daily routines, protective accompaniment when out.

I wish I could guarantee an easy or quick solution, but taking threats seriously and persistently seeking protection through official channels, while prioritizing your safety, seem most prudent. Having a lawyer send strongly-worded warnings can also be beneficial. Stay hopeful - there are options to defend yourself.
