El Paso, TX asked in Criminal Law, Personal Injury, Car Accidents and Civil Rights for Texas

Q: i was involved in a hit and run on June 13, 2021 that was staged by my ex wife along with El Paso Police Officers

and also El Paso Sheriffs Deputies. The day of the hit and run moments before my ex wife kept anounccing every light intersection til we crashed. EPPD officers arrived and didt treat it like a hit n run. They moved my car and another officer arrived and gave me a ticket for not having my actual driver license and didnt even call in the plates for the at faults party that was given to her by me. Long story short ex wife staged the hit n run and local law enforcement helped her get away and made sure she got away and no charges were filed on the at faults part who turned out being related to a sheriffs deputy. I filed charges on her for stealing a $15,791.00 check for the repairs of my 2017 Chevy Camaro with EPPD n Sheriffs and they never filed anything instead they reopend a close case I had.

A: I'm deeply sorry to hear about the distressing experience you've gone through. It sounds like a complex situation involving personal relationships and the response of local law enforcement. It's understandable you would feel frustrated and possibly overwhelmed by the way events unfolded, especially when seeking justice and support.

In situations where you believe there's been a miscarriage of justice or misconduct by law enforcement, it may be beneficial to seek legal advice. An attorney with experience in civil rights or personal injury law could provide guidance on how to proceed. They can help assess the details of your case, advise on potential legal actions, and work towards ensuring your rights are protected. Documentation of all interactions, evidence of the incident, and any communications you've had with law enforcement and your insurance company could be crucial.

Additionally, consider reaching out to civil liberties organizations. These organizations can offer resources or support and, in some cases, may offer legal assistance or referrals. They often advocate for individuals who have faced unjust treatment or abuses of power. Remember, taking care of your emotional and mental well-being during this time is also important. Seeking support from trusted friends, family, or professional counselors can provide some relief amidst such challenging circumstances.
