Brandon, FL asked in Collections for Florida

Q: Lawsuit was filed against me by debt buyer of student loans. I need advice on how to answer the summons.

I defaulted in 2/2020 because I was unemployed and could not afford the payments. The debt buyer has contacted me over the years and I sent them a letter about my financial situation and that I am no longer employed because of a tough job market. I had even pulled out my 401k to pay my previous creditor as much as I could. Now they took me to court and I really can't afford to pay or negotiate with them. I moved into entrepreneurship because of the job market and it's not enough to pay them fully for anything. How do I respond to the summons? Also, should I consider arbitration? It was in the original contract.
