Q: Can two company's that holds my pension plan that iv tried for 7 years to receive juggle my plan back and fourth
For 7years my dad has been getting jerked around between two company's about his pension he is suppose to be enjoying his retirement and was suppose to have boughten a home closer to grandkids and had plans for investments but all that is out the window now ,he now is living off ssi and never leaves the home that only holds tragic memory's for him. How can they be allow to cheat a person who has worked so hard their whole life and looked forward to finally get to spend the rest of his days free to relax and enjoy .. my dad has been in and out of hospitals for strokes and had covid so severely he was in hospital months sedated having a few close calls .. he now has leukemia and these People are not helping his health matter at all. I'm curious do they draw interest off these planes as they sit their before being drawn out by the owner? You would think once owner files for it and don't get it it should be considered theft or inbeselmemt or fraud . But I don't know the laws of it
A: If the pension is through a union, a union representative may be helpful in figuring out why the pension is not being paid and what else needs to be done to get into pay status. He can request and review the plan documents to make sure that he meets the eligibility requirements and has completed any required forms to begin payments. It sometimes takes a reasonable period of time for the paperwork to be processed and start payments. Seven years would not likely be considered a reasonable period of time. Beyond those general remarks, he would need to sit down with an attorney and go through any correspondence and documents to see what they hold up may be and what can be done to get into pay status asap. What he may be entitled to depends in large part on what the plan documents state and what is the specific reason for the hold up.
