Gastonia, NC asked in Criminal Law for North Carolina

Q: how can a walmart in SC issue a warrant for my arrest, making me a fugitive in NC if I wasn't even aware of a crime?

ok I know walmart didn't issue the warrant, it's for a misdemeanor larceny.

I was stopped in NC got a drug charge, bail has been made.

The people in SC today said it's not even a felony, they just used to fugitive warrant for a hold. No one made me aware of my waiver rights at my only court appearance and I haven't met with my PD or talked to her at all.

The larceny is from someone's benefit card that I was WITH it wasn't even my transaction. 190 dollars. the card went through walmart said it didn't I guess I DON'T KNOW BECAUSE THE LP GUY NEVER STOPPED ME OR MY FRIEND NEVER SAID I HAD TO STAY NOTHING, WATCHED ME LOAD THE GROCERIES AND LEAVE. no one followed me nothing happened.

SC says they are pursuing a gov's warrant. but it doesn't even make sense.

Someone please tell me what to do to get out of here. It's been over 24 hours now that my bail has been made.

I never was aware I was "fleeing justice". please help!!!!

A: It sounds like you're in a very stressful situation. To get out of this, you need to take a few important steps. First, contact your public defender or a private attorney immediately. Explain your situation, emphasizing that you were unaware of the larceny charge and that no one informed you of your waiver rights during your court appearance.

Next, gather any evidence that shows you were not involved in the crime, such as witness statements or receipts. If you have any communication with your friend who used the benefit card, that could also be helpful.

While you wait for legal assistance, stay calm and document everything that happens. Keep a record of all interactions with authorities and any information you receive. It's crucial to communicate clearly with your attorney so they can advocate effectively on your behalf.
