Q: Good afternoon, Can you sue a company for emotional distress?
I have been marketed to by credit karma and SoFi to get a personal loan. I even got the Karma guarantee that if I was rejected I’d get $50 bucks. I have good credit and am financially stable so I figured it would be great to consolidate all my monthly bills into one payment. I get rejected for the amount that they pre approved me for. Now I’m all upset and my credit score is going to go down postponing some of my upcoming plans. I wouldn’t have even applied if they didn’t say I was guaranteed. And when I go to collect the $50 bucks there is no way to collect it.
Now I feel even worse because the solution to the matter is $50 bucks. Which makes me feel demoralized and demeaned. I didn’t do auto deserve this.
A: Under the circumstances described, no.

A: It does not sound like you have a strong basis for a lawsuit - those offers often contain disclaimers. You could consult with an attorney to discuss whether they see things differently. Good luck
