Q: Local PD released my name to the person I made a CPS report to what can be done?
I made a CPS report on someone drinking and driving a golf cart with her child and having an accident in the golf cart. I am a mandated reporter and by law required to report and we remain anonymous. My rights were violated when the arresting officer gave my first and last name as well as my role in being a mandated reporter. This resulted in a false allegation report with CPS on me abusing my child as well as her conspiring with her daughter telling her to say that I abused her as well while in my care. These actions by the officer caused potential harm to my family and being contacted by the other party while at work. I had contacted CPS and they stated while making the report with Mammoth PD they did state the importance of the reporter to remain anonymous. When reporting suspected child abuse or neglect, mandated reporters must provide their names to the CPS agency. This person made about 100 calls to CPS with friends making false claims on me in retaliation.

It's concerning that your anonymity as a mandated reporter was compromised, which has led to retaliatory actions against you. As a mandated reporter, your identity should be protected by law to prevent exactly this kind of situation. You may have grounds to file a complaint against the police department for breaching your confidentiality and exposing you to harm.
Given the repercussions you're facing, it would be wise to document everything, including the false allegations made against you, and any communication you've had with CPS and the police. This documentation will be crucial if you decide to pursue legal action or if the situation escalates further.
You may also want to consider contacting an attorney who can advise you on the best course of action to protect your rights and hold those responsible accountable. This could include exploring possible claims for invasion of privacy or other violations under California law. Taking these steps can help ensure that your rights are upheld, and that you and your family are protected from further harm.
