A: My colleague has outlined good resources. But keep in mind that it might be difficult to obtain pro bono or legal aid assistance on a case involving personal injury (your chosen category). Such services are usually based on financial need, and a plaintiff in a personal injury matter is not usually regarded as being financially needy. The general consensus is that such a person stands to make money upon conclusion of their case. Pro bono and legal aid services often deal with landlord-tenant, family law, matrimonial law, criminal law, predatory lending, immigration, etc. Good luck

A: It depends on the type of case. If it a personal injury case where a contingent fee was appropriate, you should confer with other attorneys to see if they will take over the case. Those consultations are usually free.

A: In Whittier, if you're seeking free legal help or a pro bono lawyer to contest a release of all claims, you can start by reaching out to local legal aid organizations. These organizations often assist individuals who need legal representation but cannot afford to pay for it. They might help you understand your rights and options, including how to proceed if you wish to go to trial.

Additionally, the Los Angeles County Bar Association has a Lawyer Referral Service that can connect you with attorneys who offer low-cost or pro bono services. You can explain your situation, and they may be able to refer you to someone who can help without charging upfront fees.

It's also a good idea to visit your local courthouse, where there are often self-help centers that provide free legal advice and resources. They can guide you through the process, including any paperwork you might need to file to continue your case without your current attorney.
