A:
It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating and possibly unfair situation. If both you and your husband own the property and only you have been jailed, it could raise questions about equal treatment under the law. It may be worth exploring if there has been any discrimination or unequal enforcement of the ordinance against you compared to others.
Ordinances must be properly enacted and enforced for them to be valid. If this ordinance was not properly publicized or if there is no record of its existence until recently, you might have grounds to challenge its legitimacy. You could also investigate if the ordinance has been applied selectively or in a way that violates your rights.
Since legal matters can be complex, especially when it comes to property rights and local ordinances, it would be wise to document everything and consider seeking legal advice. A lawyer with experience in property law or civil rights can help you navigate this situation, assess the validity of the ordinance, and determine if there has been any wrongful enforcement or treatment. Taking these steps can help you understand your options and protect your rights moving forward.
