A: It can be stressful to receive legal documents while you're out of the country, but there are a few steps you can take. First, it's important to check the legal requirements for the service of the summons. If it was served to your daughter and she isn't authorized to accept it on your behalf, there may be legal grounds to challenge the service.

You may also want to consider reaching out to a legal professional in the U.S. who can represent you in court while you're away. They can help you navigate the situation and possibly file for extensions or request remote participation, depending on the court’s procedures.

It’s crucial to not ignore the summons, as doing so could lead to a default judgment against you. Being proactive, even from abroad, can help protect your rights in the legal process.
