Q: I had solar panels installed experienced damages shortly after & was advised by the city the final inspection failed.
Our solar panels were installed in 2022 A few mths after installation we experienced a roof leak and notified the company. I had someone come to inspect the roof leak and was advised it was due to the faulty solar panel install. We immediately contacted the solar company to advise. Due to the negligence of the solar company and delayed responses from staff handling the case the leak became worse and caused extensive damages to our home. We have been in the process of trying to get this matter resolved for over 2 years. The solar company initially took responsibility for the damages after having 3 inspections completed from 3rd party roofers. I made complaints to the company during the time they claimed to have fixed the leaks because the roof kept leaking. The workers were not certified or licensed. we had extensive mold due to the leaks they came started the repairs then backed out. I later found out from the city the final inspection failed and was never passed.
A:
I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you've experienced with your solar panel installation. It's important to document all the damages and communications you've had with the solar company. Gather all inspection reports, photographs of the damage, and any written correspondence to support your case.
You may want to consider reaching out to a consumer protection agency in California for assistance. They can provide guidance on how to proceed and may help mediate the situation. Additionally, consulting with a lawyer who has experience in consumer law and contract disputes can help you understand your rights and the best course of action.
If the solar company continues to be unresponsive, you might explore filing a lawsuit for negligence and breach of contract. Small claims court could be an option if the damages fall within its limits. Taking these steps can help you seek the compensation and resolution you deserve.
