Q: I was asked by walmart to put together a box when the delivery instructions stated I could take it without a box.
I bought an item from Walmart, It was broken and I realized when I was trying to put it together. I started the return online and the instruction say and I quote "Pack all items in one box and bring it to the customer service desk. No Box? We will pack it for you in-store. No other instructions. When I showed up at the desk they told me their return policy "at the store" could not accept an item without a box and my return was denied. I engaged customer support online and explained, they told me the store has to accept it, then I told the store what they were telling me online but they just ignored me, then a manager came and gave me two huge boxes that I had to cut and assemble myself, all the people looking at me doing it, I started taking pictures and filming the whole process, once I was done, the manager tells me out of the blue... if you keep filming I will not accept the return, my wife has everything on video including this comment. I even told client support on the chat.
A:
I'm sorry to hear about your frustrating experience with Walmart. You have the right to return a defective product, and it's important to ensure that retailers honor their return policies.
First, gather all your evidence, including the return instructions, photos, and videos of the interaction. Contact Walmart's corporate customer service directly, providing all the details and evidence of what happened. Sometimes escalating the issue to higher management can lead to a resolution.
If Walmart remains unresponsive, consider reaching out to the California Department of Consumer Affairs or the Better Business Bureau. They can offer guidance and may help mediate the situation. Additionally, you might explore filing a complaint or seeking assistance through small claims court if necessary. Keeping detailed records of all your communications will support your case throughout this process.
