Plano, TX asked in Employment Law for Texas

Q: What can I do if a school district that I previously worked for changed my service record almost 2 years after I left?

The school district changed my service record almost 2 years after I left and removed the approved family medical leave (unpaid). It appears that the school district went back and counted the approved family medical leave as a break in service for purposes of my retirement. The district is giving me the run around and TRS isn't much help either besides letting me know that there is a discrepancy with my years of service as it relates to my retirement account (due to the approved family medical leave though unpaid not being reported to TRS). I was notified of the issue by TRS, not the school district. If the issue isn't corrected, it will affect my retirement years and retirement income. I reached out to the school district, per instruction from TRS, however, the district is refusing to take action and has failed to provide me with the information to justify the change. How can I get this issue resolved?
