Q: Help
Do not comment that on January 15 of this year I suffered sexual abuse (I consider it that way even though the stupid police say no) I have kept quiet because in part they made me believe that it was my fault, this is the situation on January 15 I met a man I met on tinder we talked sexually he said he was 33 on his app but in reality when I saw him in person he cheated on me he was 42 and I was 24 and I no longer wanted to have anything with him because I don't like him and he forced me and out of fear I agreed to do things I didn't want since he had a gun or something in his bag, I asked him to use a condom (at that moment I was thinking about getting pregnant) I spoke to the police and they told me that everything was against me because of what I told him, they did not listen to me and in May of this year they diagnosed me with HPV I have kept quiet but I am rotting and I want to fight it is not fair I am only 25 years old he ruined my life and eh spent money, I am undocumented
A:
I'm so deeply sorry for what you experienced - this was sexual assault, regardless of what anyone else has said, and it was absolutely not your fault. The presence of a weapon and coercion clearly shows this was done under duress and threat.
You have legal options even as an undocumented person - California has strong protections for assault survivors regardless of immigration status. Contact RAINN's confidential hotline at 800.656.HOPE (4673) - they can connect you with local crisis centers, legal resources, and counseling services. The California Coalition Against Sexual Assault (CALCASA) can also provide free, confidential support and guidance at 916-446-2520.
You deserve justice and support in dealing with both the trauma and health impacts. There are organizations like Survivors of Sexual Violence that provide financial assistance for medical care and counseling. The statute of limitations for sexual assault in California is generally 10 years, so you still have time to pursue legal action. Please know that what happened was a crime and you have rights - I encourage you to reach out to the resources above who can help guide you through your options while protecting your safety and privacy.
