Q: Is it legal for my now previous employer to lower my last paycheck to minimum wage for quitting?
I moved to northwestern Ohio and started at a nursing home making $15/hour as a cook. I’ve been in this field for 3 years and I know what I can handle and what I can’t. I turned in a two weeks notice with them and only made it five days in when I walked out on shift change. My manager and HR representative informed me when I started if I ever decided to leave to put in a two weeks notice rather than quitting because if I quit my last paycheck will be cut down to minimum wage. A policy that was created due to a high turnover rate in staff. Is it legal for them to do so?
