Oklahoma City, OK asked in Contracts and Construction Law for Oklahoma

Q: My small claims case was transferred to civil court by the defendant. Do I have to hire an attorney now?

I was suing a family member for the max $5000 for sabotaging my new house being built. Permits were already pulled and passed inspection with the electric and plumbing. Hired family member to do the sheetrock and exterior siding. Weeks later fired family member upon close inspection of his work. Half of what was sheetrocked didnt have insulation behind it, walls were warped, cut outs for fixtures had huge gapes, siding had unneccesary nails holes everywhere and some places awhole group of them. The plumbing pipe from the 2nd floor to the 1st had been riddled with nails through it from the exterior siding. I fired him immediately once I discovered he had changed the plumbing and electric without permission. Now I have to hire a plumber and electrian to fix what he did before I get the final inspection. He's trying to countersue for $10K but isn't out any $ cause I let him use my card to buy material. He's trying to say he has an LLC and covered by that.
