Walnut Cove, NC asked in Criminal Law, Federal Crimes and Wrongful Death for North Carolina

Q: Haywood co nc sheriffs office lied about my nephews death, covering up his murder. What steps can I take with no money?

They have evidence he was murdered and they told us he overdosed and no foul play involved. He was missing for 3 months and during that time not once did they search for him, they lied to us about a search we lager found out never happened. They try to intimidate us when we confront them with the lies. They avoid calling us back at all. We think the girl who killed him is kin to the cheif deputy. She's never been a suspect and every lead they said they followed came from her. We begged them to investigate her. They ignored it. The search warrant said he had gunshot wounds and stab wounds. But the coroner's told the sheriff none of that was there in the preliminary report. The pictures of his autopsy show that he had been shot at least 9 times. They only took partial photos of specific identifying areas. We have no money for a lawyer and the district attorney said she couldn't get involved unless the sheriff's office asked for their assistance.
