Q: Can a company make me makeup time after they change a policy?
I work as government contractor. During a hurricane, the local military closed the base and did not provide a place to work. They have decided to not pay the company I work for during this time. The company I work for had a flex time off policy for incleament weather. They approved it, but now sent a policy change a month later saying weather flex time is no longer available as of 12 November. They are saying we have to make up those 40 hours even after approving it a month ago. Is this legal and do I have any recourse as this puts a hardship on my family.
