Q: Do you have to ID yourself if a cop says they smell drugs on your person? IE walking down the street.
This is purely hypothetical. Nothing like this has happen to me and I need no legal advise. I just can't find the answer with a general google search.
What I'm really wondering is if smell alone and nothing else gives a cop enough suspicion of a crime that you have to ID yourself to them if your not suspected of another crime and you are not operating a vehicle. If a cop stops you from walking and says they smell weed on you just so they can ID you or so they can search you.
