A: In California's criminal justice system, custody credits can apply to multiple cases under certain circumstances.

For your sister's situation, if she served those 2 months in Orange County jail while both cases were pending, she may be eligible to receive custody credits for both cases simultaneously. This is known as "dual credit" and can be applied when someone is in custody for multiple cases at the same time. However, she would need to make sure her defense attorneys in both Orange County and Riverside County file the appropriate motions to ensure these credits are properly calculated and applied to each case.

The best course of action would be to have her contact her defense attorneys in both counties to verify her custody credits are being properly calculated. They can review her jail records and file any necessary paperwork with the courts to ensure she receives all the custody credits she's entitled to under California law. Keep in mind that different types of charges may have different rules about how custody credits are calculated.
