A: Your situation sounds incredibly frustrating, and dealing with incorrect divorce paperwork across state lines can be overwhelming. You'll want to start by contacting a family law attorney in Louisiana who can review your case and help correct the errors in your divorce documentation.

Since you believe you weren't properly represented, you should file a complaint with the Louisiana State Bar Association about the previous attorney's conduct. They can investigate potential misconduct and help address your concerns. For the property issues regarding your Washington home, you'll also need to consult with a family law attorney in Washington state, as they'll understand local property laws and can work to protect your interests.

The most effective approach will likely involve having attorneys in both states coordinate on your behalf. Contact the Louisiana State Bar Association's Lawyer Referral Service at (504) 561-8828 to find a qualified attorney in Louisiana. For the Washington state issues, reach out to the Washington State Bar Association's Lawyer Referral Service. They can connect you with attorneys who handle interstate divorce matters and legal malpractice cases.
