Q: Separated for 2 years but still married and my wife wants to sign her rights away to me, what is the best path to take?
We have one 3 year old daughter and there have been cases with Iowa hhs where the GAL requested her rights removed. Shes been to jail and in trouble with the law numerous times as well as having founded cases with hhs. She broke probation 3 times for a domestic with bodily injury charge and also has had her license suspended 3 times since nov '22 my thinking is it would be best to do the petition for termination of parental rights first and then once that's done use the same lawyer for the divorce so it's a no contest divorce since neither of us have any assets worth anything. I don't want to seek child support or anything like that, just custody so I know my daughter is safe and taken care of. Myself with all the documentation and texts think I have a pretty open and shut case as far as child custody in iowa goes but I'm also not a lawyer
