Concord, NH asked in Health Care Law, Medical Malpractice and Uncategorized for New Hampshire

Q: How do I know if we have a case against a hospital/medical professional?

My husband was diagnosed with cancer in July of 2024, underwent 2 surgeries in 6 weeks, both unsuccessful due to the provider not being prepared. He recently went to another hospital, underwent another surgery which was successful and had a much better recovery.

A: A New Hampshire attorney could advise best, but your question remains open for two weeks. The best way to answer your question may be to try to arrange a free initial consult with local attorneys. I'm sorry for your ordeal. You have what appears to be a difficult case - it will hinge on demonstrating a departure from a standard of care in the first two surgeries, which will likely involve an investment of resources to outline findings from medical professionals. Then it will involve demonstrating that your husband suffered significant damages as a result of that breach of a standard of care. But that's only my individual opinion. Different attorneys could sometimes see the same matter differently, so if you consulted with New Hampshire law firms, that could provide you with a more definitive and detailed assessment. Good luck for a continued healthy recovery for your husband.
