A: Guardianship always needs to be verified. However, it depends on the petition if the Guardian actually has the right to file it. Not knowing what is in the petition makes answering this question really hard. You should contact a family attorney near you who is familiar with the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA) and the Uniform Adult Guardianship and Protective Proceedings Jurisdiction Act (UAGPPJA) - A Board certified family lawyer should be familiar with this as well.
