Q: Court reschedule concern for Class A misdemeanor on Presidents' Day.
I am a 19-year-old with impulsive borderline personality disorder and have already rescheduled a court date once due to a Class A misdemeanor charge involving an attempt to smuggle weed into prison and an incident of spitting on a guard. With today being Presidents' Day, I am unable to contact the court to reschedule again, as I've been procrastinating and have not communicated with my lawyer about the situation. I'm worried that appearing without my lawyer might lead to unfavorable consequences, but I'm also concerned that the court might perceive my actions as an attempt to avoid the hearing and consider incarcerating me. Is it more responsible to try and reschedule in the morning, providing documentation of the attempt, to involve my lawyer, or should I attend the court session to represent myself to avoid potential suspicion of avoidance?
