Q: Can country club take legal action against me for trespassing with my dog and defending it against their dog?
I walked my dog on a private country club property, knowing it was technically trespassing, though I wasn't asked to leave at the time. During the walk, the country club's dog, which was free roaming outside, attacked my dog. I attempted to defend my dog, and in the process, the country club dog’s collar broke. I texted the owner of that dog, whose contact information was on the collar, to suggest they leash their dog. I have not answered their call back. No harm or property damage occurred besides the collar breaking, and no witnesses were present. Could the country club take legal action against me for trespassing or any other reason, and what defenses might I have?
