Though I paid off the check before the court date, the judge decided on six months of unsupervised conditions without placing me on probation, and stated it would be expunged. I have no documentation confirming the expungement. I've faced identity theft issues with my Social Security number in MN while residing in MT and due to my brother's influence, my mother filed a permanent restraining order against me. Can I legally own a handgun without violating federal laws prohibiting felons from firearm possession, considering I've struggled with background checks due to these issues?
