Q: im a law student and am doing a research paper on what are the causes to overcrowded prisons in the U.S.

I was looking for an expert opinion in the criminal justice system as to what they feel are the main contributors to the prison overpopulation we face today.

It's a complex problem and some of the causes are stricter sentencing guidelines and budget cuts. In addition to conducting your traditional book and online research, you could contact people in the corrections industry.

Q: Can i get in trouble by the police? should i confront the police or just leave it?

I was at a University dorm and gave a fake ID to the security guard. They took my fake ID and gave it other to the university police. I left before the police arrived.

You are seriously asking if you should confront the police for the purpose of getting your fake ID back? No, that would not be a very bright thing to do. Just leave it alone and hope that no one follows up on it.
