Q: accident with no car insurance washington state
hello,
I was in a small car accident with no injuries a month ago, there were no injuries, only small damages to the my car and the other person's car. the day of the accident, I didn't have car insurance. The police showed up and I was given a $550 ticket for not having insurance. Now yesterday I received an email from the other guy insurance company telling me that I have to pay them $660 for the damages to his car.A friend told me I shouldnt worry cause after 3 years that debt will go away due to the statute of limitations. but she also told me that my credit would be damaged and that will affect me if in the future i apply for a job. Is that true?
Also the other persons' insurance company did a very vague investigation on whos fault the accident was. they concluded it was my fault but Im totally honest it wasn't. it was totally his fault.
Is there something I can do to "appeal" their decision? Also what would happen if I don't pay it? thanks
A: His insurance company paid for his damage and now they want to collect it from you. I would try to work something out with them. I would not ignore this. Was there a police report. Was your vehicle damaged? You can file a claim with his insurance company for your damage. Get insured going forward.
