Atlanta, GA asked in Consumer Law and Business Law for Ohio

Q: I would like to know if it is illegal to break a company's terms of sale agreement regarding reselling merchandise

Dell's TOS states:

Purchases may not be resold or exported. Your purchase is for your own use, not for resale or export. Your purchase may not be sold, leased, or transferred to restricted countries, restricted end users, or for restricted end uses according to U.S. export and sanctions laws.

Also, they have something about limited liability. I am not sure if that is a two way agreement, seems to be there to stop jury trials.

I assume Dell would just cut me off if they saw I was buying too many items, but I wanted to also know if it is illegal to create additional accounts under other names to spread out the purchases. All items would be fully paid for with credit cards.

Thank you.

A: It is illegal to create accounts in other people's names, yes. That should be obvious enough.
