Q: Can my parents legally force me to undergo circumcision till I am a minor?

Hi sir, I am a 14 year old muslim boy. According to Islam, my parents must have to circumcise me. But I am still uncut. The reason they couldn't get it done earlier is that I had some medical problems and doctors said that I am not a good candidate for circumcision. But recently my parents took me to hospital for medical checkup and the doctor said that I am ok now and can be circumcised if my parents like to. Now my parents told me that I have to undergo circumcision before I become sexually active and its a right time to get it done. I asked them the reason I have to undergo circumcision. They said me, ''Foreskin is a birth defect so we correct it by cutting it off. This is what we do with the boys. It is required by Islam. Every muslim boy have to undergo this procedure. So you are not the first boy to undergo this procedure.''

I also talked to police and I was told that that parents can circumcise me till I am a minor as circumcision is not illegal by law. Now what?

A: You can contact CPS if there is child abuse, which may be applicable here. You may also consider filing for emancipation. The best first step is an Initial Consultation with an Attorney.
