Q: I am 17 and live in Ohio. Is it possible to move out without going to court?
I'm not trying to move out on my own. I'm trying to move in with my grandmother. I turn 18 in 8 months. I don't want to deal with court and legal fees. I'm not wanting to get emancipated either. I am also still in school but I'll graduate in a semester. I just wondering if there is anyway to do this.
A: Not if your parents don't approve. Ohio does not allow emancipation anyway. If you move out, would you have health insurance? If your gm changes her mind, could you go back? Don't burn any bridges that you will come to regret. It is normal for teens to want to escape the control of their parents as soon as possible. When you are 18, you will no longer be a minor, and can be responsible for your own decisions, and your own mistakes.
