A: What does that mean: he responded but he didn't fill out a form? Justia doesn't tell us where the asker is. There are pro bono services in Los Angeles, but I can't tell if that is where you are asking from. Otherwise, you can ask the court for an order that husband pay your legal fees - assuming he has a job.

If a legal aid doesn't accept representation, it may be difficult to find a pro bono attorney since a lot of pro bono attorneys accept pro bono work directly from these agencies. The court's self-help center might be able to help shed some light on the paperwork, etc. During divorce proceedings, the parents can generally file a request for order for child custody and visitation, child support and spousal support among other issues. It's not unusual for parents that have been out of a child's life for a period of time to ask for custody, especially 50/50 custody. However, that does not necessarily mean a parent will obtain 50/50 custody. The court does favor frequent and continuing contact with both parents. The court could consider counseling and reunification therapy, etc. However, more facts are required to provide a through analysis. Even if he does not obtain 50/50 custody now, it's possible that he will obtain 50/50 at some time in the future even if he has been out of the picture for two years. If he is not doing anything about the divorce, you can look into taking action about moving the proceedings along.
