Richmond, VA asked in Family Law and Child Custody for Virginia

Q: Should we file a show cause?

Husband has joint legal and physical custody. We have her 3 weekends a month and spilt holidays and 3 weeks on 1 week off in summer.. We live 3 and half hours from mom by the way.

His daughter has been having anexity and had panic attack first day of school. Mom and dad decided she needs to see therapist, well my husband wanted it to be in Virginia beach which is 2 hours or so for us and your and 40 for mom. Mom wanted it to be in her area in eastern shore. They Been going back and forth about it. Well mom today took step daughter to a therapist..she made appointment last week apperently but they had opening this morning. This is against the court order. Well we have a lawyer we use and she said she is worried if we go to court we could lose time because of her having anexity and depression. What do you suggest?

A: I suggest listening to your attorney who is familiar with the case. Unlike attorneys online, that person has read the court order and is in the best position to advise you. If you want a second opinion, consult with another attorney in person or by phone/email so the attorney can review the current order and learn more of the case history.
