Q: PLEASE HELP , Is it too late to settle my personal injury claim on my own ?

I was in a accident and there is only 1 1/2 months left to settle the claim. I have not submitted anything yet and would liek to know if I send the adjuster all the medcial bills and records, can I still settle it before the 2 years ?

They told me it needs to be SETTLED before Feb 1. 2018/ but I have not submitted anything yer due to ongoing medical issues...I did not get a lawyer , I know now I should have but I was told my the adjuster I did not need one.

ALso, DO I ask for a certain amount or just let them offer to me ? thanks so much

A: My firm website has information on handling a claim.

Look under the "Practice Areas" tab for a list of "Do's and Dont's".

If the case does not settle soon, suit must be filed prior to the two year date or the claim will be barred forever.

Do not wait until the last minute. It would be advisable to retain experienced counsel as soon as possible to protect your claim.

A: You should speak with a member of the va. trial Lawyers Assn ASAP as you've left it late and unlikely a lawyer will want to take it after you've given the insurance company many many statements that you thought would be helpful that aren't. VaTLA members give free consults.

Understand everything you say to the adjuster can and will be used against you. Will they offer you a small amount to make you go away? Sure. Will it be what your injuries are worth? Only in a few cases in 40 years of practice have I seen this.
