Los Angeles, CA asked in Divorce for California

Q: My husband moved out of our house by choice, if I find more of his things am I obligated to give them to him?

My husband and I are obviously not on good terms, we do not even speak anymore, and soon our divorce will start. He told me out of the blue he's done with our marriage and within three days packed everything he said he wants to take and moved in with his new girlfriend. As time has gone on, obviously I've found more things around the house that belonged to him. Am I legally obligated to ask if he wants them back or may I discard them as he clearly stated to me that he has everything he needs when he left and hasn't spoken to me in months to ask for any further items he left behind? I do not care what is the morally correct thing to do, simply if it is legal to throw away his abandoned items without communicating with him. Most of the items are not expensive or important, just clothes or household items like kitchen tools or books for example and some Christmas decorations.
